Global snack brand Oreo has partnered with K-pop supergroup BTS to launch a limited-edition cookie inspired by Korean flavours and designed for fans across the world.
Mondelez, the parent company of Oreo, said the special BTS Oreos will go on sale online from 1 June and in stores from 8 June. The product will be available in more than 80 markets, marking the brand’s largest global collaboration to date.
The limited-edition cookies come with purple-coloured wafers, inspired by BTS’s signature colour. Each biscuit carries one of 13 unique designs, including the names of all seven BTS members and an outline of the group’s concert light stick.
The cream filling features the flavour of “hotteok,” a popular Korean street snack made of pancakes filled with brown sugar.
In a statement, BTS said the collaboration feels meaningful as Oreo is one of the first major global snack brands they have worked with. The group added that the flavour reflects a taste of home, now shared with fans worldwide.
Mondelez said the cookies will be available for a limited time, though it did not disclose production numbers. Company officials said the aim was to combine authentic Korean flavours with Oreo’s global identity.
They added that the development process took around two years, during which several flavour options were tested before selecting hotteok.
Industry experts said the launch reflects growing global demand for international food experiences, driven by social media trends.
Platforms such as TikTok have increased interest in foods like hotteok, while global retail and delivery networks have expanded access to international cuisine.
Oreo has previously collaborated with brands and celebrities including Coca-Cola, Selena Gomez and K-pop group Blackpink, alongside launching region-specific flavours in different markets.
BTS also has a strong history of food collaborations, including a global meal partnership with McDonald’s in 2021 and other Korean food-related product launches.
Mondelez said such partnerships help the brand stay relevant among younger consumers while strengthening its global presence. The company added it will continue exploring collaborations that connect local culture with global audiences.
