The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has reduced calibration fees for services provided by six of its accredited laboratories, following demand from service users and to promote high-quality product manufacturing in the industrial sector. The fee reduction applies to calibration services from the National Metrology Laboratory (NML-BSTI).
As a result, industries, research and educational institutions, testing labs, hospitals, diagnostic centers, and LPG/LNG bottling plants will now be able to access international-standard calibration services at a significantly lower cost.
The six accredited laboratories involved include the Mass Measurement Laboratory (handling weights and balances), Length and Dimension Laboratory (meter scales, micrometers, vernier calipers), Volume Measurement Laboratory (volumetric measures, glassware), Temperature Measurement Laboratory (thermometers, ovens, incubators), Force and Pressure Laboratory (pressure gauges, blood pressure machines), and Electrical, Time and Frequency Laboratory (stopwatches, voltage, current, resistance testing).
The reduced fees are expected to encourage greater demand for calibration services across sectors, contributing to the enhancement of product quality and stronger consumer protection.
