Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is set to bring electronic music into the cultural spotlight with ‘Notun Shobdo: Electronic Music Workshop and Live Performance’, a day-long programme designed to explore the intersection of sound, technology and artistic expression.
The event will be held on June 27 at the National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, offering participants and audiences an opportunity to engage with one of the fastest-evolving forms of contemporary music.
The programme will begin with an electronic music workshop from 11 am to 6 pm, where participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of electronic music production, sound design, beat-making, live performance setups and the use of music software and hardware. The workshop is aimed particularly at emerging musicians, sound artists and young enthusiasts interested in exploring new creative possibilities through technology.
The training sessions will be conducted by Shadwan Chowdhury, Nazmus Sakib and Hasib Mahmud, who will share practical insights into contemporary electronic music practices and production techniques.
The second segment of the event will feature a live electronic music showcase from 7:00pm to 9:30pm. Contemporary electronic musicians and sound artists from Bangladesh will present original compositions, live sets and experimental sound works, reflecting diverse urban experiences and human emotions through music.
According to BSA, the initiative seeks to present electronic music not merely as a form of entertainment but as a creative and thought-provoking artistic medium. By creating a platform for learning, experimentation and performance, the event aims to encourage greater engagement with electronic music among younger generations.
The programme is being organised jointly by the Training and Production Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with support from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Electronic music collective Breakfast Club is serving as a collaborating partner for the event.
