Fashion has changed significantly over the years, with new trends emerging alongside technological developments. Yet people’s fascination with the past remains strong. A new AI-generated photo trend is now allowing social media users to revisit the style and atmosphere of the 1980s.
Featuring big hairstyles, colourful outfits and the feel of vintage cameras, the trend transforms contemporary photos into retro portraits. Several Bangladeshi entertainment stars have also joined the trend, sharing their AI-generated looks with fans.
Actress Purnima was among the first to participate. Sharing her photo on Facebook, she simply captioned it, “New trend.”
Actor Apurba appeared seated on a motorcycle in a classic 1980s-inspired outfit, complete with dark sunglasses. His caption read, “What it meant to be an actor in the 1980s.”

Actress Bhabna also shared a retro version of herself, writing, “Me in the 1980s—in a vintage mood, wrapped in timeless charm.”

Actor Tousif Mahbub posted a photo that evoked the atmosphere of an afternoon in the decade, captioning it, “From some afternoon in the 1980s.”
Actress Toma Mirza joined the trend as well, writing, “I followed the trend.” Puja Chery also shared an AI-generated image of herself in an 1980s look, captioned, “Did it.”
Safa Kabir was seen in a retro version of her character Dr Erin from the film Cha Gorom. AI technology was used to give the character’s styling and overall atmosphere a nostalgic touch.
Actresses Archita Sporshia and Nabila also shared photos featuring 1980s-inspired fashion and a vintage mood.
The trend has created considerable curiosity and nostalgia online, with fans enjoying the stars’ imagined return to a bygone era.
Shakib Khan has not shared an AI-generated retro photo himself so far. However, his fans have been creating and posting 1980s-inspired images of the actor, eager to see how the popular star might have looked during that period.
