Confusing information about legendary singer Runa Laila’s health has recently spread across social media, with several posts falsely claiming that she is “fighting for her life”.
The misleading reports have angered her only daughter, Tani Laila. Sharing a screenshot of one such post, Tani criticised those spreading AI-generated videos, images and false news for financial gain.
She said she was frustrated by the circulation of such content and would begin reporting the accounts responsible, one by one, until they stopped spreading misinformation.
Tani also expressed disappointment that her mother, who has dedicated six decades to music, continues to face such disrespect.
“My mother is completely healthy and alive. No one has died, and she is not fighting for her life. These are AI-generated videos and images,” Tani wrote.
She urged media outlets to verify information before publishing reports and called on Runa Laila’s followers to report accounts spreading false claims.
This is not the first time the singer has been targeted by similar rumours. Around four months ago, false reports of her death also circulated while she was in New Delhi to attend the Minar-e-Delhi award ceremony.
Runa Laila later dismissed those reports herself through a post on her verified Facebook page, assuring fans and well-wishers that she was alive and well.
She also urged people to verify information before sharing such posts, saying the rumours were deeply distressing for her and her family.
Tani has therefore asked the public not to believe the latest reports about her mother’s illness or death and said action should be taken against accounts spreading misleading AI-generated content.
