There was a time when several films starring Apu Biswas were released in a single month. Many of them, particularly those featuring Shakib Khan as her co-star, performed well at the box office.
However, the actress’s career has changed considerably. While she once enjoyed a busy schedule during the peak of her career, she now appears on the big screen far less frequently.
Apu’s latest releases, Chhayabrikkho and Trap: The Untold Story, came out in 2024. She has not appeared in another theatrical release since then.
In recent years, she has been seen more frequently as a guest at various events and showroom openings. She has also recently returned to film work.
Last month, she spent several days in Pokhara, Nepal, shooting for the film Shikar, which may be released later this year.
Apu recently explained why she is now appearing in fewer films. Speaking at an event, she said her reduced workload was largely linked to the time she needs to spend with her son, Abraham.
“There is really no need to explain it. I have been away from films to some extent, and my schedule is also limited because I have to give Abraham a lot of time. We are now very attached to each other, and that is why the number of projects I take on has decreased,” she said.
The actress also spoke about the emotional difficulty of staying away from her son during the recent Nepal shoot. She had to remain outside Bangladesh for nearly a month.
“During the shoot, I had to stay away from home for almost a month. I cannot express in words what that means for a mother. My son called me frequently and kept asking when I would return. All of this made me worried,” Apu said.
She added that she was happy to be back among her audience and attending a good event.
Meanwhile, Apu was in Nepal when severe weather affected Rasuwa and several neighbouring districts in the central Bagmati province. She was there for the shooting of Shikar at the time.
