A three-day training course on “Insurance & Insurance Practices in Contract Management” began on 8 June 2026 at the Bangladesh Insurance Academy, aimed at enhancing the skills and capacity of officials of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, said a press statement. The programme is part of the authority’s Human Resource Development and Capacity Enhancement Project and will run until 10 June 2026.
The inaugural session was attended by Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Secretary of the Bridges Division and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, as the chief guest. Altaf Hossain Sekh, Director (Administration) and Additional Secretary of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, attended as a special guest. The programme was chaired by Mohammad Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Director (Additional Secretary) of the Bangladesh Insurance Academy.
Speaking at the event, Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf said understanding contract management, insurance risks, and their practical application is essential for the successful implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects. He added that the training will make officials more skilled and competent in modern contract management, supporting sustainable infrastructure development, said Rouf.
Altaf Hossain Sekh encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained in their workplaces to improve institutional efficiency. Chair Mohammad Zakir Hossain Chowdhury welcomed the trainees and outlined the legal and practical aspects of insurance in contract management.
Officials from multiple levels of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority are participating in the programme. The sessions cover the necessity of insurance in contracts, different insurance policies, claim filing and settlement, and contemporary national and global practices in risk management, said the press release.
The course is expected to strengthen the authority’s capacity to manage contracts and associated risks effectively, reinforcing its role in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across the country.
