The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has sought greater cooperation with Bangladesh Bank to strengthen corporate governance, regulatory compliance and transparency in the country’s corporate sector.
A delegation of ICSB, led by President Mohammad Shahajahan, met Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman on 3 September and discussed ways the professional body could contribute to the central bank’s initiatives.
During the meeting, the ICSB president briefed the governor on the institute’s activities and initiatives aimed at promoting professionalism, accountability and good governance practices among companies.
He said collaboration between Bangladesh Bank and professional institutions such as ICSB could create opportunities for knowledge sharing, capacity building and the development of best practices.
The ICSB president also handed over a proposal to the governor for consideration and necessary action, while expressing the institute’s commitment to providing professional expertise and institutional support to Bangladesh Bank.
The meeting comes as regulators and businesses continue to focus on improving governance standards, compliance frameworks and accountability across Bangladesh’s corporate and financial sectors.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured the ICSB team of his support and guidance.
The ICSB delegation included Senior Vice President Md Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Md Sharif Hasan, Treasurer Md Mizanur Rahman, Council Members Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Md Humayun Kabir and Mohammed Harun-Ar-Rashid, and Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Md Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury.
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Md Sarwar Hossain and Executive Director Md Sirajul Islam were also present at the meeting.
