SEYLON Tea has honoured five distinguished individuals for their contributions to Chattogram’s identity, culture and society at an event of its “SEYLON Amar Shahar Chattogram” campaign at Navy Convention Centre on Thursday.
The campaign aims to rediscover and celebrate the history, heritage, culture, food and memories associated with the port city, said a press release.
The honourees included Ekushey Padak recipient journalist and Dainik Azadi Editor MA Malek, Ekushey Padak recipient journalist Abul Momen, architect Zarina Hossain, urban planner Delwar Hossain Mazumder and writer Harun Rashid.
The awards were handed over in the presence of freedom fighter retired Brigadier General Shahidullah Chowdhury, the Executive Director of Abul Khair Group.
The event featured experiential presentations and installations showcasing Chattogram’s history, architecture, heritage, port and railway stories, culture, music, lifestyle and culinary traditions.
The campaign invited people of Chattogram to share personal memories through a digital contest, with weekly winners and mega-prize winners awarded at the event.
Chattogram was the first city of the “Amar Shahar” campaign. The brand plans to expand the initiative to other cities across Bangladesh.
