Brent Christensen has formally taken oath as the new United States Ambassador to Bangladesh at a ceremony held at the US State Department in Washington, officially beginning his latest diplomatic posting.
Following the ceremony on Friday, Ambassador Christensen expressed enthusiasm about returning to Dhaka, noting his familiarity with Bangladesh and its people.
“I am delighted to be back in a country I know well. I look forward to leading the talented Embassy Dhaka team – both American and locally hired staff – to further strengthen US–Bangladesh ties, support President Trump’s priorities, and contribute to a safer and more prosperous America,” he remarked.
In a statement, the US Embassy in Dhaka said it was pleased to welcome the new envoy and looks forward to his tenure in Bangladesh.
According to information from the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman attended the swearing-in as a special guest.
Ambassador Christensen will soon travel to Dhaka to present his credentials and assume full diplomatic responsibilities.
