BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday underscored the party’s commitment to restoring democratic processes in Bangladesh.

Speaking at a gathering of editors and senior journalists, Fakhrul described BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman’s return to the country as an opportunity to strengthen the party and reconnect with the people.

At the beginning of his speech, he paid tribute to former prime minister Khaleda Zia and the victims of the July uprising.

Fakhrul emphasized that the party aims to rebuild its engagement with citizens and work toward reviving democratic norms, highlighting that Tarique Rahman’s leadership will play a key role in this process.

He said, “Tarique Rahman’s return provides a chance to restore democracy, strengthen the party, and reconnect with the people after years of political challenges.”
