BRAC Bank PLC has promoted Md Shaheen Iqbal and Ahmed Rashid Joy to additional managing directors with effect from 1 March, the bank said in a statement.
Md Shaheen Iqbal will serve as additional managing director and Head of Wholesale Banking, overseeing corporate, commercial and institutional banking, transaction banking, structured finance, remittance and probashi banking, and financial institutions.
He joined BRAC Bank in 2004 and has experience in treasury and financial management, including foreign exchange, money markets, capital markets, derivatives, asset-liability management and financial institution relationships.
Shaheen Iqbal completed a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh Institute of Technology Chattogram, now Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, and a Master of Business Administration from Institute of Business Administration at the University of Dhaka.
He also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst charter from CFA Institute in Virginia, United States, and served as president of CFA Society Bangladesh.
Ahmed Rashid Joy has been promoted to additional managing director and chief risk officer.
He joined BRAC Bank in October 2019 as Head of Credit Risk Management and has worked to strengthen the bank’s risk governance and asset quality, according to the statement.
Ahmed Rashid Joy began his banking career as a management trainee at Eastern Bank and later worked at International Finance Corporation, Mutual Trust Bank and IDLC Finance during a 27-year career in the financial sector.
He completed a Masters in Bank Management from Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management.
BRAC Bank Managing Director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan said the promotions recognise the executives’ leadership and contributions to the bank’s wholesale banking and risk management operations.
