Police have recovered a bomb-like object alongside a handwritten threat note in Gangni, Meherpur.
The items were found on a bench outside Shadbok’s Bora Stall, located next to the Sonali Bangla Club at Sardarpara in Char Goal village. Local residents spotted the suspicious object and the accompanying note on Wednesday morning and informed the police.
Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhaddid Morshed Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
He said the recovered note, which opened with the political slogans “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu”, contained direct accusations, financial extortion demands, and threats targeting an individual named Sohag and the Sardar clan.
The handwritten message read “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu. Sohag, your Sardars are such ungrateful traitors. You paid refugees money to kill Atahar Habel. Your Sardar clan gave Tk 8 lakh to kill Atiar, Ibrahim, Kibria, Moni, Shahjahan, and Halim Master – do you think I don’t see this? You traitors, I was waiting for you. Listen, if you don’t give money, this is just a sample, there is trouble ahead. Truth has many enemies.”
