Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) Police have arrested two leaders of the activity-banned Awami League and its banned student wing Chhatra League during a special drive in Savar.
The arrested individuals were sent to court on Thursday. Earlier on the same morning, they were apprehended during separate operations conducted within Savar Model Police Station area.
The arrestees have been identified as Pulak Sarkar, 27, vice-president of Dhaka District North Chhatra League, and Alam Sheikh, 49, organisational secretary of Aminbazar Union Awami League.
Confirming the arrests, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhaka District North DB Police, Saidul Islam, said the two were arrested based on secret information and subsequently sent to court.
