BNP is preparing for a grand reception in Dhaka for its acting chairman Tarique Rahman ahead of his return to the country on 25 December. Work began on Sunday to build a stage stretching across a section of the 300-feet Purbachal road in Dhaka.
According to BNP leaders, committee members are working around the clock to complete the project quickly.
The nation is eagerly awaiting Tarique Rahman’s return. He is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on 25 December, travel via Banani-Kakoli, and reach the 300-feet venue to address the people.
The party has already secured official permission to hold the reception. Several BNP leaders confirmed that written approval was granted to organise the event marking Tarique’s return from abroad after about 18 years.
On Sunday night, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury sent the official permit to BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Tarique is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
