NP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed on Thursday said the party has formulated an economic plan aimed at ensuring that no citizen lives below the poverty line.
Salahuddin Ahmed, the BNP candidate for the Cox’s Bazar-01 (Chakaria-Pekua) constituency under the party symbol “Dhanner Sheesh” (Sheaf of Paddy), made the remarks while launching his election campaign on the first day of electioneering for the 13th National Parliamentary Elections.
He began his campaign in Konakhali area of Chakaria upazila on Thursday morning, seeking blessings from local residents.
Throughout the day, he conducted door-to-door campaigns and addressed several roadside rallies across different areas of Konakhali Union.
A former lawmaker, Salahuddin Ahmed said the BNP would work to build a future Bangladesh in line with public aspirations and the sacrifices of martyrs.
According to him, the party’s economic blueprint focuses on poverty eradication and inclusive development.
He said economically disadvantaged families would be provided with family cards to promote women’s empowerment and financial stability, while farmers would receive agriculture cards.
He also announced plans to introduce health cards, allowing citizens to access improved treatment at both public and private hospitals.
During his speeches, he reiterated the party’s commitment to fulfilling its pledges, saying, “BNP makes promises and keeps them.”
The BNP leader began campaigning around 11am and later visited Latabania, Moulovi Para, and Sikdar Para, before continuing outreach activities across other parts of the union.
He also addressed gatherings at Konakhali Kulsum Nahar Government Primary School and the Konakhali Hedayetul Ulum Madrasa grounds, where he sought votes and outlined his proposed development initiatives.
Salahuddin Ahmed was formally allotted the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol on Wednesday. He has been elected as a member of parliament from the constituency multiple times.
His wife, Advocate Hasina Ahmed, was also elected once as an MP from the same seat.
