Rangpur district police have received training on investigating and preventing misuse of mobile financial services, with a focus on tracking transactional data to identify criminal gangs involved in online gambling, fraud and other cybercrimes.
The day-long workshop, titled “Investigation and Prevention of Misuse of Mobile Financial Services,” was attended by 45 investigating officers at the police lines hall room, said a press release on Sunday.
Since 2017, bKash has been organising such workshops across the country, with 4,500 officials from various law enforcement bodies having benefited from the sessions so far.
The workshop featured detailed discussions on leveraging technology to track lost funds, preventing offences through digital transaction monitoring, and establishing swift communication channels between investigating officers and bKash officials.
Particular emphasis was placed on how MFS transaction data can be utilised to trace financial trails and apprehend individuals or syndicates involved in online gambling and other cybercrimes, along with immediate protocols to follow when a criminal incident occurs.
Rangpur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mozammel Haque attended as chief guest. bKash Executive Vice President AKM Monirul Karim was present on behalf of the company.
