At least 58 people were killed and more than 200 injured in a Houthi attack on a government security forces training camp in Yemen’s Shabwa province on Monday, as fighting intensifies across the war-torn country, Governor Awad al-Wazir said.
Footage verified by Reuters from the province showed injured people and bloodied bodies scattered across the ground, reports Reuters.
Al-Wazir said 14 other people remained missing following the Houthi bombardment of the Al-Alam camps.
Shabwa, an energy-rich province in south-central coastal Yemen overlooking the Gulf of Aden, hosts the Balhaf liquefied natural gas facility, the country’s largest industrial investment.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said on X that the group had targeted the training camp, which he claimed was operated by Saudi forces. Saudi authorities did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
