Bangladesh Coast Guard’s West Zone has deployed 3,500 members across Khulna division to ensure the security of Durga Puja celebrations and protect religious sites, important installations and public life in coastal areas.
The personnel are securing a total of 144 temples and puja mandaps across the coastal areas of Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts. The operation includes increased patrolling and joint operations with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful and festive environment, said a press release on Tuesday.
Special diver teams will be stationed at idol immersion points to prevent potential accidents during the final immersion process.
The public has been advised to remain cautious during the immersions and can contact the Coast Guard emergency hotline, 16111, for assistance in any untoward situation.
