In a bid to strengthen the circular economy and sustainable production processes in Bangladesh’s garment sector, a high-level delegation from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is participating in the Circular Textile Trade Mission in the Netherlands.
The mission, held under the theme “Together for a Circular Fashion Tomorrow,” began on September 8 and will run until September 11, 2025, BGMEA said in a statement.
The event is jointly organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka, with close cooperation from BGMEA.
The mission’s primary objective is to create new business and investment opportunities in recycling, textile waste management, and advanced production processes while promoting increased technology exchange to drive the rapid transition towards a circular textile economy.
The delegation, led by BGMEA Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan, Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam, Asef Kamal Pasha, and Sakeef Ahmed Salam. They are accompanied by top manufacturers and recyclers from Bangladesh’s garment and textile sector.
This trade mission holds significant importance for Bangladesh’s garment industry, which is making remarkable progress in adopting global best practices in circularity, utilizing innovative technologies, and aligning with the rising global demand for circularity. The country is steadfastly working towards promoting sustainability in its textile sector.
As part of the four-day program, the delegation has participated in high-level seminars on circular policies, financing management, and technology. They have also visited leading companies like Brightfiber Inside, Wieland Textiles, Saxcel, and Frankenhuis, known for their groundbreaking contributions to textile recycling and closed-loop systems.
Additionally, the delegation toured the Circular Textile Lab at Saxion University of Applied Sciences and observed advanced prototyping facilities for recycled yarn and fabrics. This visit provided valuable insights into the practical applications of circular technologies within Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry.
The delegation also participated in the “Circular Textile Days,” a key European platform where global brands, recyclers, innovators, and technology providers showcased their circular models, traceability systems, and sustainable production solutions. This event offered excellent opportunities for networking, matchmaking, and showcasing Bangladesh’s innovations on the international stage.
BGMEA’s participation in this mission reflects the association’s commitment to its Sustainability Vision 2030, which prioritizes circularity, carbon emission reduction, and the transition towards an environmentally-friendly economy.
