Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 3,60,000 yaba pills worth around Tk 10 crore during an operation in the Palongkhali Purbo Farirbil area near the border in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
A special patrol team of the BGB Ukhiya Battalion recovered the large consignment of drugs during a late-night operation on Thursday.
According to BGB, acting on secret information, a special patrol team from the Palongkhali BOP took position in the border area.
Later, the team saw two unidentified individuals entering Bangladesh from the Myanmar side and chased them. The smugglers fled towards Myanmar, leaving behind three bags.
Upon searching the bags, the patrol team found 3,60,000 yaba pills inside 36 packets wrapped in khaki-coloured scotch tape.
Following the seizure, BGB conducted a combing operation throughout the night, but no smugglers were arrested. The recovered yaba has been handed over to Ukhiya Police Station.
