Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Cox’s Bazar 34 Battalion have recovered 3.3 lakh Yaba tablets and detained a Rohingya national during separate drives at Naikhongchhari.
BGB Cox’s Bazar 34 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col SM Khairul Alam confirmed the matter to Times of Bangladesh at around 11am on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from Ghumdhum BOP conducted a special drive at 5:30am in the Kakra bridge area near Pillar 31. During the operation, a Rohingya national identified as Bashir Ahmed, 50, was held with 80,000 Yaba pills.
In a separate incident earlier on Thursday at around 10pm, BGB members from the Baishfari BOP carried out a drive near Pillar 36. During this operation, they recovered 2.5 lakh Yaba tablets in an abandoned state.
Lt Col SM Khairul Alam said, “A case has been filed against the detained drug dealer and he has been handed over to the police along with the recovered Yaba.”
