A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member was killed after being hit by a truck on Bogura-Rangpur highway in Mokamtala on Saturday morning.
The deceased, Rafiqul Islam, 56, was a Havildar of Patnitala Battalion (14 BGB) in Naogaon.
Kundarhat Highway Police Station OC Md Rais Uddin confirmed the incident. The incident occurred around 9:45am in Mokamtala Port area.
Rafiqul, who was heading home on leave, had got off a bus with a colleague and was crossing the highway when a truck hit him, killing him on the spot.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura. The victim’s family has been notified.
The truck fled the scene immediately. Police are trying to identify and locate it, while legal action is underway.
