The Bangladesh Cricket Board has filed a General Diary at Mirpur Police Station over false claims made against its president, Aminul Islam Bulbul. The board took the step after misleading information spread on social media.
The BCB said the General Diary was lodged on 30 January 2026 under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. The action targets individuals and pages accused of sharing untrue and harmful content.
In recent days, several photo cards appeared on Facebook. These posts claimed that Bulbul was involved in match fixing during the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League. They also alleged that an investigation had started against him by Alex Marshall of the BCB Integrity Unit.
The board rejected the claims. In a media release, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said the allegations were false and had no basis. It confirmed that its president Aminul Islam Bulbul is not under any investigation.
The BCB added that Alex Marshall denied the claims. He confirmed in writing that no such investigation exists. He said the allegations were completely made up.
The board said the spread of such false information is a serious matter. It believes the claims were meant to harm the reputation of the BCB president and damage the image of the board and Bangladesh cricket. Legal action has been taken against those involved.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board urged the public and the media to stay cautious. It asked everyone not to share unverified information. The board said people should rely only on official sources for correct news.
