Bangladesh Bank has extended the validity of its Tk 1,000 crore refinancing scheme for wheat and maize production until June 2027. The extension was announced through a circular issued on August 28, informing all scheduled banks about the continued availability of low-cost loans for farmers and entrepreneurs.
Originally introduced in 2022, the fund aims to boost wheat and maize production in the country. Eligible borrowers, including landless, small, and marginal farmers, as well as sharecroppers, can access collateral-free loans of up to Tk 2 lakh from the fund.
