Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (BARVIDA) has congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on assuming office as the 11th Prime Minister of Bangladesh following the party’s landslide victory in the national parliamentary election.
In a statement issued on Monday, the association said his responsible, farsighted and prudent decisions during the preparatory phase of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and in the post-election period have inspired political stakeholders and citizens alike.
The message of unity and national reconstruction delivered to political parties and the wider public carries special significance for the country, it said, adding that his political courtesy towards opposition parties in parliament reflects a commitment to democratic practice.
Expressing optimism about the new administration, BARVIDA said the government is expected to take effective and well-considered steps to improve law and order, curb corruption and disorder and revitalise the stagnant economy damaged by prolonged misgovernance.
Referring to the BNP’s 31-point outline, the association noted that the pledge to modernise road, rail and waterway networks and establish an integrated multimodal communication system has created renewed confidence about reforming and upgrading the country’s transport infrastructure.
BARVIDA, which has been engaged for more than four decades in importing and supplying advanced reconditioned vehicles to the road transport sector, said it is keen to work closely with the government in supporting modernisation efforts.
Under the leadership of Tarique Rahman and the pledge of “Bangladesh First”, the country is expected to advance towards becoming a self-reliant and prosperous nation, the statement signed by Secretary General Riaz Rahman added.
