Bapparaj has confirmed that he will not contest the upcoming Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association election, putting an end to speculation that he would run for the post of president.

For some time, there had been rumours within the film industry that he would take part in the election for the 2026 to 2028 term. However, he has now officially stepped away from the contest.

According to close sources, the actor decided not to participate due to personal commitments and other responsibilities, as he felt he was not in a position to take part in the electoral process at this stage.

Bapparaj addressed the matter in a statement to the media, saying, “The artistes’ association is my own organisation. I have always stood by artistes and will continue to do so in the future. However, due to some personal reasons, I will not be able to take part in the election this time. I extend my best wishes to everyone.”

Following his withdrawal, discussions have intensified within the film industry regarding potential candidates for the president post. Artists and film industry stakeholders are now engaged in speculation about who will enter the race.
