Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have arrested 10 foreign nationals, including a Bangladeshi, for allegedly circulating misleading videos of missile attacks on social media.
State-run Emirates News Agency reported on Saturday that the suspects shared fabricated clips amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
UAE Attorney General Hamad Al Shamsi ordered a swift investigation and expedited trial for the accused.
According to the UAE Public Prosecution, some videos were generated using artificial intelligence (AI), while others used footage of missile attacks from other countries but falsely presented them as incidents in the UAE.
The detainees include nationals of Bangladesh, Egypt, the Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, Iran, Cameroon and Nepal, along with two Indian nationals.
Authorities said the content threatened national security and public stability.
The suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
