Bangladesh’s women cricketers have seen their planned mid-December tour of India postponed after the Board of Control for Cricket in India formally notified the Bangladesh Cricket Board that government approval had not been granted.

Nigar Sultana Joty’s side had been scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is in India, but the series will now be rearranged for a future window. Indian officials indicated the matches could be played when both boards find a gap in the calendar, and internal discussions in Dhaka suggested February 2028 as a potential fallback slot.

With no international cricket this December, the BCB has shifted focus to domestic competition. The women’s Bangladesh Cricket League will be played in T20 format, a change designed to prepare players for next year’s T20 World Cup qualifiers. The four-team tournament will begin in Rajshahi on 15 December, with the final set for 25 December.

The decision to run a T20 BCL during the gap left by the cancelled tour reflects the board’s desire to maintain competitive match time for the squad. All available national players will feature, offering an uninterrupted block of white-ball cricket at a crucial point in the build-up to 2025.
