Bangladesh had to settle for silver in the compound mixed team event at the Asian Archery Championship, held at the Army Stadium, after a narrow defeat to India in the final.
Bannya Akter and Himu Bachar had impressed in the semi-final, scoring 158 out of 160 to secure a commanding win, raising hopes for gold. In the final, however, they were edged out 153–151 by India’s Dipshikha and Abhishek Verma.
Bangladesh fell behind early, scoring 35 points to India’s 39 in the first four arrows. They fought back in the next two sets, winning both 39–38, but the final set ended 38–38, handing the victory to India.
South Korea secured bronze by defeating Kazakhstan 156–155. Bangladesh have now guaranteed at least one medal in the championship, while Kulsuma Akter Moni kept hopes alive in the women’s individual compound event, facing India’s Preetika Pradeep in the semi-final later in the day.
