A delegation led by US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen paid a courtesy call on Tuesday on State Minister for Food and Public Administration Md Abdul Bari at the Food Ministry office.
The minister welcomed the US delegation and discussed issues of mutual interest, including wheat imports from the United States.
Bangladesh has already begun importing wheat from the US on a government‑to‑government basis. In fiscal year 2025‑26, more than 700,000 tonnes of wheat were imported.
Despite global challenges, the shipments arrived on schedule, for which the minister expressed satisfaction and thanked all concerned.
Ambassador Christensen thanked the minister and expressed optimism about expanding bilateral trade and enhancing cooperation for the welfare of both nations.
Political Economic Counsellor Eric Geelan, Economic Officer Richard Rasmussen, Food Secretary Md Firoz Sarkar, and other ministry officials were present at the meeting.
