Bangladesh and New Zealand arrived in Chattogram on Tuesday ahead of the third ODI, while the players selected for the opening two T20Is will join the squad on Wednesday, confirmed by a team source.
The T20 series will follow immediately after the ODI series, and Bangladesh have already reshaped their squad with a focus on pace depth. Bangladesh selected a new-look squad for the first two T20Is and prioritised young fast bowlers. Ripon Mondal and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain lead those changes. The selectors aim to test new options rather than rely on established names.
Bangladesh rested Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana to create space for these changes. This decision shifts focus from immediate results to squad development. It also reduces workload on senior fast bowlers.
Litton Das will captain the side, while Saif Hassan will serve as vice-captain. The squad combines young batters with multiple spin options to cover different match conditions.
The first two T20Is will take place on 27 and 29 April at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram. The final match will be held on 2 May at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
