A 13-year-old child was critically injured by electrocution while climbing a high-voltage electricity pylon to see a bird’s nest in Chandpur.
Administrative Officer of Shahmahmudpur Union Md Quddus Rokon confirmed the matter on Tuesday. The incident occurred near the Bepari Bari in the Kumardugi area. The boy, Zarif, is a sixth-grade student at the local madrasa.
The child’s father said he was asleep in his house at the time of the incident. His son climbed the electricity pylon to see a bird’s nest and was seriously injured. Residents immediately brought him to Chandpur Government General Hospital.
After receiving primary treatment at the hospital, he was referred to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. The child is undergoing treatment there.
The boy’s mother said following initial treatment, her son had been placed in the ICU, where his condition remains critical.
