As lunch approached on day 4 of the second Test, Bangladesh stood at 280 for 3. It was a milestone match for Mushfiqur Rahim- his 100th Test- and he had already celebrated with a brilliant century (106) in the first innings. Now, he was at the crease alongside Mominul Haque. Mushfiqur remained unbeaten on 44, while Mominul was not out on 79.
Bangladesh had piled up 476 runs in their first innings, before bowling Ireland out for 265. This left Bangladesh with a commanding lead of 491 runs.
So far, the only wicket-takers for Ireland in this innings have been Jordan Neill, Andy McBrine, and Gavin Hoey.
As the Bangladesh total steadily climbs, the team is starting to consider declaring soon to push for a result and secure a thrilling whitewash. Meanwhile, Mushfiqur might look to accelerate after lunch in hopes of reaching another century. If he manages it, he would become only the second player in Test history, after Ricky Ponting, to score two hundreds in their 100th Test match.
