Bangladesh’s compound men’s archery team reached the final of the 2026 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament (Stage 1) with a strong display in the elimination rounds.
The team of Nawaz Ahmed Rakib, Himu Bachhar, and Aishwarzo Rahman held their nerve in a tight quarterfinal against Malaysia. The match ended 231-231. Bangladesh won the shoot off 30-27.
They carried that momentum into the semifinal. Bangladesh beat Bhutan 232-228 to book a place in the final. They will face Vietnam for the gold medal on March 27.
In the individual events, Himu showed good form in the compound men’s section. He beat Vietnam’s Dang Cong Duc 148-146. But he lost a close quarterfinal 146-147 to India’s Uday Kamboj.
In the women’s compound, Kulsum Akter Moni reached the quarterfinals. She beat Thailand’s Kanyavee Maneesombatkul 145-142. She later lost 143-147 to Arina Cherkezova.
The recurve teams had a harder day. The men’s team of Rakib Mia, Abdur Rahman Alif, and Ram Krishna Saha lost to Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals. They had earlier beaten Vietnam 6-2.
Bangladesh will return to action on Thursday in the recurve and compound mixed team events.
