Bangladesh’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative chaired a series of vital policy discussion meetings during the 356th Session of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Governing Body.

Gilbert F Houngbo, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) was present in the meeting.

The discussions, which were conducted on a tripartite basis, led to the governing body adopting significant decisions concerning the “Outcomes of sectoral meetings held in the second half of 2025 and other sectoral activities” and the “Promotion of the Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy and responsible business conduct”.

A primary focus of the decisions resulting from the sectoral activities was the formal recognition and ensuring of just rights for migrant workers.

Furthermore, the session saw the adoption of the MNE Declaration (concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy), an initiative designed to foster economic and social advancement while securing decent work.

Bangladesh’s presidency over these high-level meetings underscores the nation’s active, responsible, and constructive engagement in the sphere of multilateral diplomacy.
