The union leaders of Dhaka University’s Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall have demanded that the dormitory’s name be changed to Shaheed Osman Hadi Hall.

The hall union’s Vice President, Md Muslimur Rahman, told TIMES of Bangladesh, “Our Sharif Osman Hadi was martyred while fighting against Indian aggression.” He added, “The cultural fascists at whose hands Hadi Bhai was martyred are currently in hiding in Delhi.”

According to the VP’s statement, “Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the father of these cultural fascists. That is why we want to remove their name and rename the hall after Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.”

The hall union’s General Secretary Ahmed Al Sabah told TIMES, “We have taken a mass signature from the hall’s students. A majority of the students voted in favour of this demand.”

He further informed, “We had also submitted memorandums to the vice chancellor twice before. However, the matter was not implemented at the time due to the influence of malign forces.

“We will demand that the administration include the matter on the agenda of the next syndicate meeting and change a name like Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s to one after our Hadi Bhai.”
