New Age Editor Nurul Kabir was harassed by a mob near the Daily Star building in the capital’s Kawran Bazar area on Thursday night.
Eyewitnesses say the eminent editor was dragged from his car and harassed by agitators. Nearby army personnel rescued him. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Protests have erupted across the country, including in Dhaka, over the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
He was shot on 12 December after Jummah prayers in the Box Culvert area of Bijoynagar in Dhaka. He died on Thursday while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
