The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has once again reduced the price of gold in the domestic market, cutting the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori.
In a press release issued on Tuesday morning, the organisation stated that the new rates became effective from 10am. The adjustment follows a decline in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market.
According to the new price list, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk2,20,857, including VAT.
Additionally, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk2,10,943 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk1,81,200 per bhori, and gold sold through traditional method at Tk1,48,016 per bhori.
BAJUS confirmed that these prices will remain in effect across all jewellery establishments until further notice. While the sale price includes VAT, making charges (wages) will be applied separately based on the specific design of the ornament.
The organisation clarified that since VAT is already integrated into the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, it cannot be collected separately from customers.
Existing BAJUS rules regarding the exchange and purchase of ornaments excluding specific VAT, making charges, and stones remain unchanged.
This latest reduction follows an upward adjustment made on Monday morning, where the price of 22-carat gold was increased by Tk2,216 to Tk2,23,074 per bhori. At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk2,13,043, 18-carat at Tk1,82,950, and traditional gold at Tk1,49,474 per bhori.
With this latest move, gold prices in the domestic market have been adjusted 96 times so far this year. These adjustments include 47 price hikes, 48 reductions, and one instance of VAT adjustment. In comparison, the market saw 93 price adjustments throughout 2025, consisting of 64 increases and 29 decreases.
