Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 516 people and filed 40 cases during routine drives conducted across various parts of the capital over the last 24 hours.
According to the DMP, Mirpur Division arrested 115 people, followed by Motijheel Division with 96, Tejgaon Division with 79, Gulshan Division and Uttara Division with 51 each, Wari Division with 46, Ramna Division with 35, and Lalbagh Division with 30.
The Detective Branch (DB) of DMP arrested 12 more people, while the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested one person.
During the drives, police recovered 11 kg of hemp, 2,231 Yaba tablets, 2 grams of heroin, two foreign pistols, two magazines, six rounds of ammunition, six mobile phones, one knife, and Tk10,150 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
Police also confirmed the rescue of two victims during the operations.
The drives were conducted across different police station areas in the capital to arrest suspects and recover illegal substances. Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
