Gold prices in Bangladesh rose for the second day in a row on Wednesday morning. The rate for 22‑carat gold increased by Tk2,741 to Tk224,182 per bhori.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) also raised silver prices, following higher local market rates for pure gold and silver. The revised prices took effect at 10am, according to a notice.
Under the new rates, 21‑carat gold rose by Tk2,625 to Tk214,093 per bhori, 18‑carat gold by Tk2,275 to Tk183,883, and traditional‑method gold by Tk1,866 to Tk150,232 per bhori. One bhori equals 11.664 grams.
BAJUS had already raised prices a day earlier. On July 21, 22‑carat gold went up by Tk1,633 to Tk221,441 per bhori, 21‑carat by Tk1,575 to Tk211,468, 18‑carat by Tk1,341 to Tk181,608, and traditional‑method gold by Tk1,050 to Tk148,366.
