After an acclaimed international festival run, ‘ANNiE’, the first Bangladeshi series selected for the Women in Series section of Germany’s Seriencamp Festival, is finally set to stream for local audiences.
Directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad and starring Nazifa Tushi in the title role, the miniseries will soon premiere on OTT platform iScreen.
The streaming agreement was signed on 30 July at the Channel i office in the presence of the series’ creators and producers. Among those attending were Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Impress Telefilm and Channel i, director Abdullah Mohammad Saad, producer Ehsanul Haque Babu, and co-producers Shihab Noorun Nabi and Tanvir Hossain.
Producer Ehsanul Haque Babu said the team was delighted to bring the series to Bangladeshi audiences after its successful international festival journey. He said viewers would enjoy a distinctive experience through the series’ storytelling, filmmaking and performances.
Alongside Nazifa Tushi, the cast includes Yash Rohan, Simon Sadik, Sarika Sabrin, Farhana Mithu and Nazah, among others.
ANNiE had its world premiere on 9 June at the Seriencamp Festival in Cologne, Germany. The festival, dedicated exclusively to television series, marked the first time a Bangladeshi series had been selected for an international event focused solely on serialised content.
The series has been produced under the banners of Metrovideo, Catalog, Jirel and Audacious Originals by Ehsanul Haque Babu and Ali Afzal Uzzal. Co-producers include Shihab Noorun Nabi, Tuhin Tamizul, Tanvir Hossain, Johan Chapelan, Saiful Islam and Raihan Sikder, while Apoorva Bakshi serves as executive producer.
Saad made his feature debut with Live from Dhaka in 2016 before earning international recognition with Rehana Maryam Noor (2021), the first Bangladeshi film selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. The film was later screened at more than 15 international film festivals worldwide.
