An autorickshaw driver was killed, and another person was critically injured following a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a battery-powered autorickshaw in Kendua upazila of Netrokona on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Piyas Mia, 23, a resident of Majlishpur village in Kendua upazila. The injured individual, Billal Hossain, 30, is currently receiving medical treatment.
The accident took place at the Sohagpur Mor area under Paikura union of the upazila.
Pemoi Police Investigation Centre In-charge under Kendua Police Station Md Siddiq Hossain said locals rescued the critically injured Piyas and transported him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. He subsequently passed away while undergoing treatment at the facility.
Following the incident, police seized the pickup truck and detained its driver, Chanchal, and his assistant, Badsha. They have been sent to Kendua Police Station, and further legal proceedings are currently underway.
