A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of bank accounts and savings certificates of Lutful Tahmina, wife of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, following allegations of amassing illegal wealth with the assistance of her husband.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Thursday. Court assistant Md Riaz Hossain confirmed the development.
The petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) claims that Lutful Tahmina acquired illegal assets worth approximately Tk 15.46 crore through her husband’s misuse of power.
Investigators also revealed suspicious transactions totaling around Tk43.77 crore in her bank accounts.
Investigating officer Muhammad Zainal Abedin informed the court that a family savings certificate worth Tk20 lakh held in Janata Bank’s Farmgate Corporate Branch under her name should be frozen to prevent the transfer or disposal of the funds.
The ACC requested the seizure to safeguard state finances and ensure a smooth investigation, which the court approved. The move comes as part of the ACC’s ongoing probe into alleged financial irregularities linked to the former minister and his family.
