Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, who resigned from his position as an advisor to the interim government on Wednesday, has officially announced his decision to contest the 13th national parliamentary election as an independent candidate for the Dhaka-10 constituency.
The Dhaka-10 constituency includes areas such as Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Hazaribag, New Market, and a portion of Kamrangirchar.
He made the announcement in a post on his verified Facebook page at 11:51am on Friday.
In his post, the former advisor sought support and cooperation from the public for his campaign.
In a video message attached to the post, Asif Mahmud said, “I do not have the patronage of any major political party, a large number of dedicated workers, or the necessary funds in the traditional system. Your cooperation and support are my only support, and my responsibility will solely be to you.”
Earlier, on Wednesday, Asif Mahmud resigned from his advisory position in the interim government, where he was responsible for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, as well as the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Following his resignation, speculation arose regarding which political party he would join, but Asif Mahmud made his decision public through social media.
