Local Government and Youth and Sports Affairs Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has said he is likely to contest the upcoming national election from Dhaka-12 constituency.
In an interview with a private television channel on Monday, Asif said no final decision has been made yet.
If he decides to run, he will contest as an independent candidate from Dhaka-12 seat, which includes Tejgaon, Tejgaon Industrial Area, and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Earlier in an interview with the “Thikanay Khaled Mohiuddin” aired on 12 August, Asif had announced that he would resign from his advisory post before the schedule is announced.
On 14 August, while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, he reiterated that anyone who intends to take part in politics or the election should resign before the announcement of the schedule. “I have not yet made a final decision about contesting, but if I do, I will certainly resign before the polls schedule,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Monday already unveiled its preliminary list of candidates for 237 constituencies, while the NCP announced a few initial candidates in several seats.
