After remaining closed for nine consecutive days, four factories at the Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Nilphamari resumed operations on Tuesday.
On Monday afternoon, separate notices were issued by the factory authorities instructing workers to return to work.
The notices further stated: “Following written requests from most workers and with the aim of ensuring smooth production activities, the authorities have decided to reopen the factories from November 4.”
Factory management also urged all officers and employees to report to work on time and maintain discipline, professionalism, and cordial behaviour in the workplace.
The factories are Section Seven International Ltd, EPF Printing Ltd, Deshbandhu Textile Mills Ltd, and Meigo Bangladesh Ltd.
Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, executive director of Uttara EPZ, said the factories were reopened as the workers’ issues had been resolved and a favourable environment had been restored.
The factories had been shut down indefinitely on 26 October following continuous demonstrations by workers demanding payment of wages, bonuses, and other benefits.
