Dhaka’s Ashikur Rahman produced a brilliant century on a day dominated by the bowlers, while his teammate Anisul Islam narrowly missed out on his first-class hundred by just three runs. Barishal pacer Ruel Mia also reached a major milestone, claiming 100 wickets in first-class cricket.
Dhaka finished the second day against Rajshahi on 252 for 4 in their second innings. Ashikur Rahman remained unbeaten on 112, marking his second century in first-class cricket. Following the fall of the second wicket for 12 runs, he stitched together an 188-run partnership with Anisul Islam, who was left stranded on 97, just three runs short of his maiden century.
Earlier, Rajshahi had been bowled out for 298 in their first innings after resuming at 275 for 9. Dhaka off-spinner Ashraful Islam claimed the final wicket, taking his second five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
In Bogura, Barishal were under pressure, losing seven wickets for 90 runs in their second innings and finishing the day 84 runs ahead. National team leg-spinner Rishad Hossain claimed three crucial wickets, including Moin Khan, who fell for 29. Experienced batsman Tasamul Haque remained unbeaten on 22 to stabilise the innings.
Rangpur, having resumed at 43 for 2, were bowled out for 202 earlier. Barishal pacers Yasin Arafat and Ruel Mia, along with left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam, took three wickets each. Ruel reached the 100-wicket milestone in first-class cricket when he dismissed Naeem Islam, caught by the wicketkeeper.
Chattogram ended the second day against Mymensingh on 160 for 2 in their second innings, holding a 128-run lead. Mymensingh had scored 288 all out in their first innings, with Chattogram captain Shahadat Hossain top-scoring with 65. Spinners Shubhagat Hom and Arif Ahmed took four wickets each to keep Mymensingh under control.
In Sylhet, the match against Khulna started a day late. Khulna were bowled out for 259 in their first innings, while Sylhet ended the day on 28 without loss. Khulna had initially received a strong start from Enamul Haq (24) and Soumya Sarkar (27), but both fell quickly at 55 runs. National team pacer Nasum Ahmed dismissed Enamul and also caught Soumya. Khulna captain Mohammad Mithun top-scored with 44, while Kalam Siddiqui contributed 36. Nasum finished with impressive figures of 4 for 61.
