Acclaimed musician Armeen Musa is set to take her music to Shanghai on March 26, with a performance that blends contemporary sound with a tribute to heritage. The concert will take place at The Pearl, a venue known for hosting international acts and eclectic live productions.
Musa’s set will unfold in two parts, beginning with a solo piano segment before expanding into a full-band collaboration alongside The Pearl’s resident ensemble.
The evening will also feature a special homage to pioneering folk singer Abbasuddin Ahmed, whose work helped shape the foundations of Bengali music.
The artist plans to perform a mix of original compositions in both Bangla and English, reflecting her signature fusion style. The tribute element, she noted, is particularly meaningful as it introduces the legacy of Abbasuddin to a global audience.
The performance carries a personal resonance as well. Musa’s grandmother, celebrated singer Ferdousi Rahman, toured China in the 1960s and later chronicled the journey, adding a generational link to this international appearance.
With previous performances spanning Europe, North America and beyond, Musa’s Shanghai concert marks another step in her efforts to position Bangla music on the global stage.
