Ziaul Faruq Apurba is back in Bangladesh and wasting no time getting back to work. After drawing crowds and praise at his first solo concert in New York, the actor has returned to a packed schedule, with eight dramas to complete before he heads back to the United States.

Apurba has already wrapped two dramas directed by Masrikul Alam and Mahmudur Rahman Hime. He is also set to work with Syed Shakil, Rubel Hasan, Jakaria Showkhin, Mursalin Shuvo and SR Mozumder. He plans to finish all eight projects within the next few days before returning to the US. After that trip, he plans to stay in Bangladesh for an extended period.

His first solo concert in New York has also opened up more opportunities. The show drew audiences from different US states and featured appearances by several of his fellow artistes. Apurba received offers for solo concerts in other states but has not accepted them for now.

“Since it was my first concert, there was a lot of pressure on me. We did not have any sponsors, so the pressure and challenges were even greater. I was a little nervous at first,” Apurba said.

That changed after the concert was announced. “I saw people gradually becoming very interested in it. Audiences came not only from New York but from different states. It became an incredibly memorable evening. I sang, talked between songs, laughed, cried and became overwhelmed with emotion. I was moved by everyone’s love,” he said.

Now back on the drama circuit, Apurba said he is being selective about the stories he takes on. He singled out Syed Shakil’s upcoming drama, whose story he said draws from real life. Popular contemporary artistes will appear opposite him across the projects.

“I am choosing good stories keeping my fans and audiences in mind. I hope they will enjoy every drama,” Apurba said.
